New Year, New Blog Series: Let's Talk LOCATION!! | Arizona, PNW & Beyond
Happy New Year everyone, and oh my goodness this is my first blog of 2023, my mind is still blown at how fast time flies!! Since it’s the new year and this blog is more of an introduction to something new I’ve been thinking about, I don’t wanna stretch this too long, but more wanted to get your gears turning and feel inspired to read about what’s to come in 2023. It’ll be a small peek into my world not only as a photographer, but as a business owner and honestly a client myself!!
I love taking self portraits, but sometimes it just feels FABULOUS to hire someone who has a different creative eye than oneself to take portraits every so often and get that light and angle I might’ve not captured myself (see above, and below!). We photographers need headshots for our business and behind the scenes shots for what we do, so it’s fun to find and meet other creative peeps in this community to help curate something beautiful.
Something I often think about as a photographer and client myself, is location, location, LOCATION!! Location is everything including weather and time of day, it sets the essence and tones for your photograph. For example: if you’re located in the Pacific Northwest the chance of that perfect golden hour is rare so find a beautiful forest or moody lake that will pull the cloud cover in and provide a more romantic or adventurous tone to your photograph, or if you’re located in the hot desert of Arizona, catching that sun whether that be morning or evening won’t be a problem so use that sunshine to your advantage, play around with light and shadows to create a more vivid and dramatic uniqueness to your photograph.
Also, a friendly reminder…don’t let the stress of capturing the little things worry you, we don’t need to capture every moment of our lives, buuuuut it feels SO good to set aside time to capture how we are in certain stages of our lives.
Family portraits every year or every few years is something to cherish or individual fun and creative portrait sessions to capture just YOU as you are right now…well maybe not right now some people might be reading this blog while on the toilet and that’s definitely something most if not all people would wanna capture LOL.
My hope for today’s blog is to be unique, sweet and ultimately the birthplace of a mini info blog series I’ve been cooking up about how to find the best photographer for you, what to expect when booking a professional photographer, how to go about the booking process, and advice on questions to ask your photographer before and after booking, as well as any tips on what to expect during your session with me like styling, location, posing, etc.
