One year ago this month Washington found its first case of COVID-19. One of the most life changing things a world could experience. When this happened lots of things changed for lots of people. So this is the story of how I became the photographer for some lovely friends of mine!

In March of 2020 we were informed we could not leave our homes. Which wasn’t good. It sucked. This included people planning weddings and putting the brakes on so many things. For Ben and Jess, the initial panic of having to reschedule their May Puerto Rico wedding didn’t hit until April.

About a month before their Puerto Rico Resort wedding in May, Ben and Jess decided to postpone it to November. Everyone was so excited, planning their beach stays and booking our hotels. But things really shifted. At this time I was only a guest at this beautiful event.

Now I cannot remember when it happened but sometime in the summer Jess reached out and asked me if I would be interested in photographing the last min, intimate wedding they decided to have in the pacific northwest. I INSTANTLY jumped on this opportunity because not only are they amazing friends but they are BEAUTIFUL Humans.

I was ecstatic! I felt so grateful they asked me to take their photos.

Ben and Jess had NEVER had photos taken before together, and their wedding in Puerto Rico WAS going to be the FIRST TIME EVER! WHATTT haha, So I asked them if I could take their photo before the little wedding they started planning. This is that outcome!

Now after our shoot, we went and had some margaritas and talked about their plans.

They were planning something I didn’t expect! a small intimate wedding an a beautiful rental home in Index washington. I was so excited. Index has beautiful river views and is very quiet and foresty! but I didn’t expect them to pull one of my favorite weddings together, EVER!

The wedding was beautiful, fun and full of love. They did everything by hand with local makers and things they could find on the internet. This wedding reflected Ben and Jess incredibly well.
