Erica & David | Engagement | Joshua Tree NP, CA
In today’s blog we’re gonna dive into my Joshua Tree Adventure with Erica and David going over both engagements and wedding decor!! So, our original goal was to achieve a dreamy-editorial look with some Pinterest vibes thrown around, but of course our creative minds started wandering so we decided to lower our blissful expectations a wee bit by letting go and just have a BLAST!! This turned out to be one of the best photoshoots to date, but before I tell you why, let me tell you a bit about Erica and David.
I first met Erica, who’s a graphic artist, when she started following me on instagram a few years ago because of our dear friend Andrew Coleman Smith. Naturally, we bonded over our experience in the industry, our creative itch, and love for photoshoots. Erica and David have such a chill and incredible bond, they’re kind, loving and supportive of one another in SO many ways. When they got engaged I was thrilled for them because they deserve it PLUS I know they’re going to throw a fabulous party!!
Our first shoot was when I visited my friend Andrew in San Diego last year and we had an instant bond. Erica actually found my instagram because of Andrew’s YouTube channel, she was a frequent watcher and when I was featured she gave me a follow. We bonded on the internet and were so excited to bond IRL. So when I had slipped the news of my Cali visit to Erica and one thing led to another and it was the perfect opportunity to plan an EPIC engagement announcement shoot. The vibes, incredible.
Just under a year later, a cross state move, lots of planning, and a quick 5 hour drive later we met at not just any location, we rolled up to JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK (if you remember my bucket list blog this was one of my top picks, click here for the list)!! I’ve been dreaming about an opportunity to shoot here and it essentially landed in my lap, I honestly couldn’t believe it!!
During the planning process, Erica and I were talking about the vibes of the shoot. I knew they were going to be immaculate. So, when she told me these photos weren’t getting used just for their invites and save the dates, and that they were going to be a MAJOR part of their WEDDING decor, my mind was instantly BLOWN!!
