Self Love: All Bodies Are Boudoir Bodies | Boudoir | Washington, Arizona & Beyond
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!! Let’s do a bit of a check in today, check in with ourselves and check in with each other. Over these last few years our world and communities have faced so many challenges on levels we never imagined. It’s paramount to check in with ourselves every so often now more than ever, whatever that may look like for you. So, today we’ll focus on self acceptance, self love and the many shapes of confidence.
When we think of self love, confidence and self acceptance there’s many words that come to mind. Confidence doesn’t have to be fleeting, such as feeling confident for an interview or confidence for a speech or confidence for a special family occasion. Confidence could and should be something we carry with us every day, but I know that like all of us we have moments of doubt or self consciousness. So, let’s not think about confidence as something to obtain or embody when we need it, let’s embrace our self confidence every day and especially on days that it can feel challenging to carry ourselves high.
Stepping out of your comfort zone could be considered an unconventional way to feeling confident. More often than not when we’re doing something out of our norm it can make us feel awkward or uncomfortable or even self conscious at times, but from personal experience I can confidently say that stepping out of one’s comfort zone can feel so freeing! I believe that accomplishing the unexpected to build poise and self-assurance can be exceptionally brave when doing something unique to you. Bravery doesn’t always have to be performing in front of a live audience or participating in a competition, bravery can also be putting on a dress for the first time or doing a photoshoot you never thought possible.
Self acceptance can be quite the challenge depending on the examples we’ve been shown in our lives. Self acceptance doesn’t have to be accepting something we achieve in one stage or moment of time, life is about growth and changes and acceptance is about embracing the present and welcoming the future. One of my favorite quotes is from an incredible poet of our time;
“How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you.”
- Rupi Kaur from Milk & Honey
The part about this quote that stood out to me was the “how” because how one loves oneself is important, especially since we are taught to love or value the opinion other people have about ourselves more than our own. I think this is a time where we begin to create a better shift in how we see ourselves vs the importance of how others see us.
When it comes to self love it often ties us with body image and is frequently based on the expectations and unrealistic beauty standards our society puts on us. It can make self love complicated or completely absent in some cases. I want this blog to encourage those to put down those unfair expectations or unrealistic beauty standards and create your own expectations of yourself. How do you wanna show up for yourself every day? Be proud of who you are and unashamed of other people’s opinions of you, cause ALL BODIES ARE BOUDOIR BODIES!! If dressing up in sexy and beautiful lingerie and booking that photoshoot brings you joy, confidence and self love then I say hit that book now button, because I AM SO HERE FOR THIS ENERGY!!
