Best Wedding Cakes | Wedding Photography | Seattle, WA and Beyond

Ever wonder how people decide what kind of wedding cake they want? Well here is one of my favorite lists. WEDDING CAKE! (and not just cake).

Over the years I have seen various types of dessert in place of wedding cake, as well as regular wedding cakes decorated to perfection. So I have compiled a list of my favorite wedding “cake” inspiration from my photo repertoire here at Andrea Michelle Weddings.

So enjoy…and let them eat…DESSERT!

Fall Flavors

The first cake I am presenting to you is the single tier fall colored cake with EDIBLE flower decor. Edible flowers make it so the couple doesn’t have to worry about taking the flowers off or saving special decorations before they cut the cake. The single tier wedding cake makes it easy for budget weddings or where cutting a cake for a bunch of people might get annoying, especially if you pair it with cupcakes (as shown below). The fall colors suited this backyard wedding perfectly the aesthetic couldn’t have been better, epically because the bride changed into a beautiful fall colored dress to match her theme.

Gold and Boozy

The second cake I bring you is from Victoria and Shawns wedding! Another single tier cake. Now this one has some fun decor! It even features some edible GOLD LEAF! HOW gorgeous is that! Gives the cake the illusion that it might be gold inside (Maybe…haha). This couple did similarly to what Kat and Evan did above, but paired with BOOZY themed cup cakes. From porter to Tequila, these cupcakes really made a party! Antler baking company CRUSHED this party toper :) Also, peep the Disney touch, can you find it??

Keep your eye out for a blog from Victoria and Shawns wedding also!

Personalized in Blue

How, cute, is this cake! Personalized cake topers just make sense don’t they? Chelsea and Kevin’s cake had more than just the visual personalization. The flowers featured on this cake are from her parents YARD! The whole wedding was featured in this cute backyard setting. The blue hydrangeas were the perfect color match because her parents had been growing them just for the wedding! Now, that is parenting passion. This white cake featured two layers and simple white on white design. Making it so that the lovely couple could continue to long tradition of keeping the top of the cake for one year! anyone else do this wedding tradition?

Fun and Fancy

Let’s check out another two tier. This time featuring Gathered Bakes and her incredible flower, and gold leafing. Also these flavors were to die for! Lavender Earl Grey and Chocolate Cocoa! Incredible. Jaz and Cody had a fun, outdoor wedding also in their own property and Sarah from Gathered came to them to finish the final touches, how cool is that. matching a cake’s while being to the whole table and wedding, gasp, so pretty!

Farm Fabulous

You guys, another Antler Baking Company masterpiece, if you haven’t already done to her page do so! Her instagram is full of fun cakes she has made and amazing goodies, and if you happen to be in Bellingham go find her counter at downtown woods coffee!

But anyways, this wedding cake featured accompaniment of PIES! so now we are getting into some of the more unique versions of wedding desserts here. In this incredible barn the families brought pies and cheesecakes along with them to share! How special.

Cake vs. Chris and Cameron

Alright Alright, getting through some of these more traditional cakes but this one is a fun one. A homemade cake that started to lean, was then fully decorated with TONS of beautiful local flowers. This family ALMOST had a cake disaster but was saved by loads of beautiful flowers. This ocean side part elopement was a blast. This couple Cameron and Chris had been waiting to get married and when they did, they did it well.

A Best Friends Love

All of these little elopements make for very special cake moments. This Mount Rainier wedding features a homemade cake by the brides best friend! She enjoys baking and offered to create a rustic looking cake with a beautiful bouquet on top. The rustic look are not imperfections but creativity to give this little cabin wedding in the woods of Mount Rainier National part super special for this loving couple!

“Nontraditional” Traditional Cake

Now onto something a little nontraditional., Jen and Jacob’s deserts were rustic and farm style cakes stacked to the NINES! JK only four. But Look how cute and rustic this looks. They decorated their cake table with smaller versions of the larger cake, and it was just covered in powdered sugar and fresh fruits. This cake was going to go fast. As the reception dinner ended there was quite the line to receive a piece of the scrumptious looking tower.

Cookies, Macaroons, and Cake, Oh My!

Haley and Dustin’s classy water side venue allowed them to get very creative with some of their special family desserts. Haley and Dustin opted for a cutting care with three tiers and yummy blackberries to match their navy and rose gold colors. But the show stopper were the Italian cookies passed down in this couples families. Additionally they had a love for macaroons which made for super cute ring and detail shots throughout that evening. This couples dessert choices are a perfect demonstration as to why non traditional desserts work for weddings!

Met Market Madness

Okay, right off the bat here, do you live in Seattle? HAVE YOU EVER HAD METROPOLITAN MARKET COOKIES? Well, this couple does, and has. (Also click the link and check those cookies out, you will not regret it) So of course they had to have them at their wedding. They packaged these perfectly and had personalized napkins to top off the cookie eating. These chocolate chip masterpieces as genius! AND Covid-19 friendly. Individually packing your wedding treats helps make it easier to share and allow your guests to continue to feel connected.

Candy Crushin

Last but not least, even more different than any of the other deserts is this CANDY bar, now for me this was a dream. As someone with an incredible sweet tooth, and is pretty picky about pastries (I grew up in a bakery, you find better baked goods than my own parent!! ). This candy bar was full of chocolate, sour candies, gummies, anything you could think of and you could just TAKE IT! :) This is also another Covid friendly option for small weddings coming up! Blythe and Kevin’s candy bar is one of my number one favorites, but honestly whose truly picking favorites here. Oh wait, me.
