Betta and Seth | Adventure Wedding | Sauk Mountain, WA
A Hiking/Adventure/Excursion/Wedding is always my goal, and was something I had BEGGED to come across…then it came.
Being apart of lots of photography groups, hiking women groups, outdoor PNW stuff all over Facebook I never thought I would actually get connected with someone from one. But one special day I met Betta.
Betta was looking for a photographer that was willing to hike at the wee hours of the morning with her groom and family members to photograph their dream wedding atop Sauk Mountain in the North Cascade Mountain Range. I had never hiked Sauk, but I had heard of its incredible views, cliff sides, and if you got lucky on clear day views of Mount Baker.
I’’ tell you what, we hit the jackpot that day….but first let me cut back to the rest of the story.
I met Betta and Seth and a coffee shop one morning for their consultation about this excursion (yes excursion, instead of “wedding”). As with so many of my couples I clicked with Betta and Seth, they were so in love and so ready to get married to this adventure. They had a really cool love story, and both come from really amazing backgrounds. I knew I had to be a part of this.
Well, I guess they felt the same because well, they hired me. Or I wouldn’t be writing this blog post.
As we sat over a coffee and talked about their plans for this adventure style wedding, I got increasingly more excited. Now, I am not a morning person, but for a hike, I’ll wake up at any time of the morning. AND FOR A WEDDING. Heck yes.
So….fast forward to the wedding day just a few months later.
(OH…i forgot to mention, they did their ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN THE RAIN!!! what troopers)
We arrive at the meeting spot below the mountain ranges with no service and just a funky gas station pit stop. Its gloomy, chilly, and everyone’s just a little sleepy.
Betta and Seth were excited, anxious, and had all the jitters to get ready to go up the mountain. But decided to sign the marriage licenses first! SMART. So as we are finally headed up the dirt road our adventure begins…
Getting ready to hike that mountain was adorable, Seths children loving on Betta and getting so excited!
Our adventure began gloomily but as soon as we were at the trailhead the sun started to peak out. And the higher and higher we climbed the more and more clear and beautiful it became. Everyone was such a trooper because this is NOT a simple hike. Washington Trails Association says its 4.2 miles round trip with 1200 ft of gain, that’s actually a lot, BUT WORTH IT!!!!
At the top the tiredness turned into excitement yet again and Betta pulled out her dress and pop up changing tent to begin the “treasure” of her adventure wedding!
The peak, the highlight, the magic….THE MARRIAGE,
I have no more words for this beautiful day!
